It Is Well With My Soul

Horatio G. Spafford(1828-1888), Biblical Job of 1800’s lost his five years old son to fever, year after followed by losing almost everything to the great Chicago Fire, then two years later by losing his four daughters to the ‘Ville de Havre’ which collided with ‘The Lochearn’, an English vessel and sank. Receiving a telegram from his wife in Wales who survived saying : “Saved alone.”

From all these comes the greatest hymn of our time: It Is Well With My Soul

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Dear God,grants us the Spirit to say with Job and with Spafford at time of our great sorrow, It Is Well With My Soul. Everything work for your glory! Everything work good for those who love you! Everything, It Is Well.
