1. The Identity, Goal and Survival of the local Church Unveiled
God electing the Church provides the local Church with a glorious and unshakable objective foundational ground, sustained by Christ, and with purposeful future. As a result, leaders in the local church can answer who they are, what their goal is, and how they will survive.
Ephesians 1:3-11 unveils the local church’s identity viz. loved and chosen by God, its goal viz. transforming lives into the image of Christ, full of humility, gentleness, patience, and bearing with one another in love and its survival, Christ Jesus, who is the head of the church, victoriously leading it through.
2. Leaders in local Church can feel secure in the love and power of God
This passage explains God’s great desire and ultimate purpose for his Church. He wants the local Church to feels secure in his love and in his power. Leaders in the local church can faithfully encourage their members, who are in grief and suffering, that everything works for good for those whom God loved and chose.
3. An Encouragement to Evangelism
The local Church is encouraged by Ephesians 1:3-11 to go out and evangelize. As Paul, leaders together with their Church members, are encourage to endure everything for the sake of the elects that are around the local areas. (2 Tim. 2:10)
It is an encouragement for outreach ministry because it guarantees that an elect would hear and know the voice of her Shepherd and obtain salvation in Christ Jesus.
