Why I am Not An Atheist

My Personal Journey Through Different Worldview:

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen, not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else” C.S. Lewis “Is Theology Poetry? p.140

I was raised by most wonderful Christian parents who did not push their beliefs on my two brothers and I. At the age of 14 I started questioning every religious claims I were taught, as a result of not having enough knowledge to quench my thirst for truth, I became Agnostic in heart and mind at age 15-17( where I had my teenage-hood physical changes, “that-boy-thing guilty”). At the age 18-20 I became an Atheist in mind and Skeptic at heart.

But as an atheist, things where not clear or better. As a matter of fact, unclear and worst.  As I started searching, exploring and reasoning my atheistic belief, I encounter more problems with it. How could I explaining The Problem of Evil?, Beginning of first life? Beginning of the Universe, The Something from nothingness? Ground for Objective Moral Values and Duties? The purpose and meaning of Life?

All these questions made no sense in my Atheistic Worldview. How? Because in Atheistic Worldview(Which is wrong) there is no meaning in life, there is no evil, no good, all is a simply great accident, a result of blind process, chance, and long period.

“In a universe of blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, and other people are going to get lucky; and you won’t find any rhyme or reason to it, nor any justice. The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is at the bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil and no good. Nothing but blind pitiless indifference. DNA neither knows nor cares. DNA just is, and we dance to its music.” (Out of Eden, Richard Dawkin page 133).

“The Greatest show”? If that was true then, my search for beginning of first life was meaningless, my search if God exists or does not exist was also meaningless. And as a reasonable atheist, I knew creating my own subjective meaning will be deluding myself. It atheism is true, then this is a worst show ever. No objective meaning, no evil, no value, all seamed absurd.

What about my arguments for non-Existence of God? In truth I did not have any, my atheist arsenal, objections and claims were all fallacious, thus could not stand firm in laws of non-contradiction.

“Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence” – Carl Sagan

If Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, then this is one of extraordinary claim from Carl Sagan to which I held. Therefore it requires Saga’s extraordinary evidence for his proposition, namely “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence”

So, Mr. Sagan, and I(as a person holding this claim), what are the extraordinary evidences for this claim?

Do not get me wrong here; I accept that extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidences for the belief/faith (not the fact), true, the next Question is do I(now holding Christian Worldview) have extraordinary evidences for my belief? Indeed, Christianity do have extraordinary historical evidences for its extraordinary belief. And more over a fact is a fact even if one fail to give extraordinary evidence for it.

It is important to know the difference between Fact and Faith. Facts is “knowing about Existence of God” and Faith is “knowing that that God has something to do with humanity”.

Good example is of great Ex-Atheist Philosophy Professor Antony Flew((11 February 1923 – 8 April 2010) who came to accept that God Exists. Flew knew/or came to know about God’s Existence, know about God in a way that God has nothing to do with his creation(which is faith).

Another Claim;

“What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.” Christopher Hitchens

Where is the proof of this claim Mr. Hitchens? If there is no, I will have to dismiss this too without proof on the bases of your own logic!

“There are no proofs for God”! Atheist claims. Using clam like this proves ones ignorance of search for truth. The question is not about no proof, the question is; Are the proofs for God compelling? Are they plausible than their opponents?

Even If there were no compelling proofs for Existence of God, that still does not prove God does not Exist. It only bring to question Christian’s belief in God.

William Cowper(1731-1800), Famous English poet reminds us that:

“Absence of proof is not proof of absence”

If a lawyer succeed to give proofs that Mr.Alive did not murder Mr.Dead by stabbing, shooting, poisoning, beating Mr.Dead to death or blow him up with explosives, still this does not conclude that Mr.Alive did not murdered Mr.Dead. In deed it help the juries’  probability(believe) that Mr.Alive is not likely to have murder Mr.Dead. But if the Fact is that Mr.Alive murdered Mr.Dead, that fact remains to be true despite juries belief.

Saying there is “No proof for Existence of God” therefore atheism is true; is an appeal to Ignorance.  A logical fallacy of irrelevance occurring when one claims that something is true only because it hasn’t been proved false, or that something is false only because it has not been proved true.

Christianity’s Worldview has compelling arguments for Existences of God. Weighing the arguments against and for the Existences of God, Atheistic Worldview seems implausible and unlivable.

More objections:

“If God Existed, then no one can know anything about Him” – Prayson Daniel (age 17 Agnostic)

But I already knew something about God namely “no one can know anything about God”

Most of my atheistic arguments and also of many other historical and Today’sFamous Atheists are self-defeating, they can not go through Law of non-contradiction examination and come out clean.

Bonus claims;

There are no absolute Truths“(While absurdly claiming it is absolute true that there is no absolute true) This claim need to be absolute so as stand firm in what it proposes, if not then why should I accept this sweet nonsense.

Law of non-Contradiction; A can not be B and not B at the same time and same sense.

More on names of Self-defeating or Self-referentially absurd claims:

Scientific Positivism
It is irrational to believe anything that cannot be verified by the scientific method.( What scientific experiment proves this statement?)

It is impossible ever to know the meaning of any written text.(How come I know the meaning of this text?)

It is immoral to believe anything without sufficient proof.( Where is your proof for this thesis?)

Epistemological Relativism
All propositions are true.(So it is true that all propositions are False”? Absurd!)

No proposition is true.(Including this one 🙂 If “No Proposition is True” is not true then should I accept this claim to be True?

How I became A Christian?

For believers,my answer is short, God called me, He found me, and not that I found Him.

For non believer, my answer begins with I meeting with a beautiful and most wonderful lady(my wife) who challenged my worldview with a simple question? ” Do you know who you are against? ” If you are true genuine atheist, the answer is  probably a big No!

For the love of reason, and passion to prove her wrong in her belief,  I found myself in “other” side, the Theistic one. I tried to find ways to disprove Christ Jesus, trying to expose him as a mythical or legend, I tried to argue against the whole Bible(From Genesis to Revelation).

“If I were going to end up genuine atheist, then I would better be a reasonable one” so I thought.

This journey took me to the depth and the riches of Christian Faith; Christian Theology, Philosophical/Natural Theology, Church History, Evidences outside the Bible, Archeological findings, debates between Christian and non-Christians and many more.

Genuine atheist means not depending on Wikipedia, Youtube or one-sided-Arguments blogs and online forums as my only sources.

A bad, lazy and folly habit of non-genuine atheist or theist is the searching only of the fields which they already think to be true, and if you point anything fallacious or go against the forums belief, you are blocked or kicked out.

Example: I am banned from Richard’s Dawkin Discusion forum after posting Dawkins’ Self-Deluded Logic and debated with some Dawkins’ believers  in the forum.

Genuine atheism or theism means daring to go outside ones bubbled-up belief. Following where the evidence points. If the Worldview we are holding is true, then it will remain true in the mist of criticism, objections, confusion and on.

Daring to read Theistic books and non-Theistic books. Daring to put my prejudiced on hold(the hardest thing to do). Not flowing or accepting people’s conclusion but exploring, reasoning, and reflecting on their arguments and in the end forming my own conclusion.

The more I tried to disproof God, the more I started to believe in God.

Like Psalmist, I tasted God(for 4 years now) and I saw, see and will see He is Good.

Taste here, does not mean, a child-hood experience with God, or I used to go to Church as mostly New Atheists and Skeptics inexcusable argument, no! Taste means Deep and correct understanding of who God is( Proper Biblical Christian Doctrine, Hermeneutics, Philosophy and Apologetic) first, And see that He is Good – What He has Done in Christ Jesus.

I am not saying Christianity is true because I am a Christian, but because at the bottom(all the philosophical arguments), Christianity is true because of who Christ Jesus is, and what He has done.

How do you know God? God can be known through:

1: Nature, thus the Five Arguments for Existence of God.(Knowing about God)

2: Through the Historical Jesus(knowing about God and knowing God)

A relationship with God is through faith. Christian faith or the word faith as used in Christianity means confidence in the truth, value and trustworthiness of Historical Jesus which is rested on logical proofs and historical evidences.

If you are a theist, dig deep to know why you believe what you believe, have bold reasons and correct logic. Doubts will always be at the door, but when they do, you have reasons to stand, a solid ground of correct reason.

The more you know, the more you believe(Prayson Daniel)

  1. Hi Daniel,
I just wanted to say that I wish every atheist was so humble as you were (and are, of course), and with so much sincerity in their search for truth as you had when you were looking for it (and also now).
    Thank you!

  2. Sooo many answers :O Tonight Im going to sleep well 🙂
But there is still one more question, if you have so huge knowledge about God, isnt the “faith” meaningless anymore?(blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed)if you know what I mean…

p.s.Sorry for my bad english :/

      • Faith in actual sentence means your personal attitude or relation to unseen, unfelt, untouched etc. Althought there is a lot of evidence, you still didnt see, didnt feel the God, yet you have just to believe.

        evidence-proof-knowledge (scientific way)

        evidence-nothing-belief (faith)-understandig (spiritual way)

        John 20:29

      • Hej 🙂

Thank you Lukas, for the clarification 🙂

        Evidence-nothing-belief (faith)-understanding = Blind Faith

        Evidence-something-belief(faith)-understanding = Rational Faith(Reasonable Faith).

Example a belief that there is other minds other than mine or the world did not pop to existence five minutes ago with a build in memory and age, or I am a machine programmed to believe I am human. I can not have evidence-proof-knowledge (scientific way) but I have reasonable Faith(Belief).

Again, there is no evidence-proof-knowledge (scientific way) to proof science, doing so would be a circular argument. There is no evidence-proof-knowledge (scientific way) for beauty, moral values and duties, human rights and dignity 🙂

        On your example:

Although there is a lot of evidence, you still did not see, did not feel your mind, yet you have just(reasonable justified) to believe you do have a mind. 🙂

There is no scientific way and spiritual(Christian) way in Christianity but indeed scientism way and Christian way.

As a Christian, I am call to loving God with my heart, mind, soul and strength. Using my mind for rationally believing in Him, my soul to delight in Him, and heart to adore Him and my strength to love, help and share Him with you.

Let me know what you think 🙂

  3. You know exactly what I am implying. Why are most theist’s almost always dishonest about the fact that they are generally whatever religion their parents are? Religion comes through culture. Babies are not born with any religious beliefs. Religious beliefs are instilled by well meaning parents or some other well meaning individual. Let me ask, do you think your name would be Prayson and you would be Christian if you were born in Bahgdad or Tibet? Fact is your parents (whether you believe or admit it) pushed their beliefs on you at least through your name and most likely through reading bible stories to you as a child (bet they never read you Ezekiel 23) and pictures of Jesus or crosses hanging in your house. So please don’t lie to yourself and claim religion wasn’t pushed.

    • I do not know exactly what you are implying, because it make no sense. If what you said is true then all atheist with Christian names, example Micheal Ruse,(Micheal = None like God) implies that they ought to be a Christian because their parents gave them Christian names!

Noreligion, your reason commits a genetic fallacy. If what you said is true, then atheist and theist are in the same boat, meaning one belief is determined by the society. Thus an atheist parent will have an atheist children. But we know that is not always true, atheist or Christian parents can have atheist or(and) theist children. Good example is Christopher and Peter Hitchens.

Indeed I agree with you that parents plays a great role, but all in all, children as the grow up in a universe full of information, tend to test their believes.

When I say religion was not pushed, I mean, our parents allowed us, at our teenhood to choose our personal beliefs.

My elder brother went from our parent belief, Pentecostalism to Catholicism, to Islam, to mysticism, then to Atheism. I, like Peter Hitchens pray for his return.

I am back to Christianity, not the same as my parents “Pentecostalism”, but a Calvinistic Baptist.

Sorry if my tune was unfriendly, I hope you can forgive me if it is to harsh.

  4. “I was raised by most wonderful Christian parents who did not push their beliefs on my two brothers and I”

So says the guy with the name Prayson.

  5. First and foremost, please stop sending me private messages to my email account. They are unwelcome and defeat the purpose of public blogging. If you have have additional things to say to me, this is the proper forum.

In my opinion, the stories we have discussed are exactly that- stories. Including the ones in the Bible. They have been passed down mouth to mouth and translated many ways. Have you ever played the telephone game where one person whispers something into another person’s ear and then they pass it along, one by one, whispering it to the others? Each time the game is played, the final person has the story wrong. My examples should not be taken as word for word accounts of the story of Jesus or Horus or any of the others. They are stories. They all have inaccuracies, including the Bible. The interesting parts are the similarities.

Others believe in these other deities as strongly as you do your god. Many believe that Mohammed is the one, or even Buddha, how can that many people be wrong? Something as simple as being born in a different era or region of the world would strongly influence which God we professed our faith to.

Just as scientific and technological progresses are made throughout time, so are advances and changes to our vocabulary. “Zombification” and “resurrection” have similar connotations. Each is a being coming back from the dead. It is possible that these are examples of translation differences just as the Bible talks of angels, coming from the Greek work “angelos” which means messenger? Differences in syntax are not a way to prove or discredit any language or belief.

All of the facts you detailed about the date of Jesus’ birth are not new to me. If you notice, in my previous comment I never refuted any of these items, nor did I say Jesus did not exist. It is common knowledge, to truth seekers and some Christians, that Christmas is a borrowed holiday to celebrate his birth. It is likely that he was born in mid-September, but we will never know for sure.

You included the following in your response: “3.No Three Kings, The New Testament document records of the magi(wise men) not Kings and the number of the wise men is unknown.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, (Matthew 2:1 ESV)”

It is true that this Bible verse does not enumerate the wise men, but it does not say there were not 3 either. This is semantics. It is commonly believed that there were 3 because of the 3 gifts that were given. Tradition also says that their names were Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar, but who really knows? Your scripture passage does not prove the number of wise men at all.

Horus’ mother was often called Isis Meri. “Meri” is a term that was interchangeable with “beloved”. Meri or Mary, again, are similarities that can be mistranslated over time.

I could go on, but I simply do not have the time. Besides, the point of my comment to this blog is to point out that the burden of proof lies in the hands of the believers of a god. I, as an atheist, believe in no gods. Therefore, I hold no burden of proof…for any of them.

    • Humanitarikim, Thank you for your comment. The two mails I send are not private and can be publish to all. The reason I send as I do to others, is to notify that their comment is being answered and one in your case The other was Philosophical Society Lecture on Jesus and Mythical Gods(in MP3) . My great apologies if that goes beyond purpose of public blogging, I were wrong assuming that I was of help in your seeking of Truth.

      Answering Your Objections:

      Oral Tradition and Telephone Game

Ancient Oral Tradition can not be compared with Telephone Game because our culture is not train in correct memories type of carrying information. We have computers, notepad and so on that we depend on. Our modern societies are unlike the ancient oral traditional ones.

In Ancient Oral Tradition societies used creeds, songs, poems, proverbs and paints which were easy to memories and helped every one in remembering the stories to the greatest accuracy. These stories, creeds, songs, poems, proverbs and on where told and retold to children in a way Todays Christian children can say the Lords Prayer “Our Father in Heaven” or Sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”, with great accuracy.

When it comes to New Testament documentation to which the story of Jesus is recorded, not only we have ancient oral tradition like one found in 1 Corinthian 15:3-8 to which even Atheists and Skeptics Scholars believes to be close to 5 years of Jesus crucification but also written documents that are before A.D 100 thus close to 70 years after the crucification of Jesus.

Jesus the Nazarene is the most Historical recorded figure in his ancient times than Julie Caesar, or Pontus Pilate or any figure with 12 independent sources including Tacitus, Suetonius, Pliny the Younger, Lucian, Philo, Josephus.

Here is any example of Oral Tradition to which is easy to memories, 1 Corinthian 15:3-8

That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
      And that he was buried,
And that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
And that he appeared to Cephas,
      And then to the Twelve,
Then he appeared to more than 500 brethren at one time,
      Then he appeared to James
And then to all the apostles

Atheists, Skeptics and Theist Scholars believe this creed which easy to memories goes back to 5 years of Crucification of Jesus.

Thus Oral Tradition can not be compared with Modern day Telephone game because of great difference in Culture.

      Zombification and Resurrection:

Horus/Osiris,is the ONLY MYTHICAL deity that is recorded to come back to life before Christ Jesus. He was brought back to life by Isis and made a lord of underworld . This is totally different to ancient Jewish understanding of Resurrection( We have to keep in Mind what kind of being brought back to life and which life)

Resurrection is being brought back to life in a body in the same world. But Horus/Osiris was brought to life in afterlife(another world) without a human body.

English word Angel comes from Greek translation of Hebrew word Mal-ach, which means messenger(angelos) There is no technological progression.

Thus Zombification and Resurrection are not the same.

      Three Kings:

In deed your right, but the burden of proof is not in denying but with affirming side(that they are three). One thing is known for sure, is that they were not Kings the Critics who forces similarities to fit in, is an evidence of poor Historical scholarship.

Horus’ Mother Often Called Isis Meri

True, Meri-Isis, Beloved Isis. But this was common title given to any Egyptian god or goddess that was loved. Example Meri-Maat, a goddess of harmony, justice, and truth represented as a young woman, Meri-Bast(Bastet), a goddess of happiness and joy manifested as a woman with a cat’s head, who carried a sistrum in her right hand and a basket in her left; she wore an aegis or a breastplate surmounted with the head of a lioness, and also Kings and Queens of Egypt. Example; Amen-meri-Uasarken(Osorkon I and II), Amen-Meri-Auset-meri-thakeleth(Takeleth I), Amen-meri-Shash II, Amen-meri-Peta-se-Bast, Amen-meri-Pa-mai.

Maryām(English Mary) was a popular name in time of Jesus’ life:

Apart from Mary the Mother of Jesus, we have Mary Magdalene(Luke 7:37, Luke 8:23, Luke 87:36-50),Mary of Bethany, sister of Martha and Lazarus (Luke 10:38-42),Mary, the mother of the disciple James and Joses (Matt 27:55-61) Mary, the mother of John Mark (Acts 12:12) and Mary of Rome (Rom 16:6) just in Bible time of Jesus. Thus there is nothing special in the name Mariam.

Thus making connection using of Isis to Mariam the mother of Jesus is forcing details as saying 9/11 terrorist attack to well known emergency number 911.

      Burden of Proof:

Burden of Proof according to Law(and Logic), is the responsibility of proving a disputed charge or allegation. It is place on the affirming side. The charges of Jesus being a copycat or similar to other mythical figure is a affirming side. And I, I deny that Jesus is not a copycat or similar, negation side.

Thus the Burden of Proof is on your side to proof that it is Historical supported. Because we find not Historical support of assertion made by copycat theory. All the Evidence that we have are from AD 150 thus if we are talk about who copied who, its the pagan myth copying the fast growing Christianity of its time.

It is not a matter if one is believing or not of these deities, History is open to a believer and non-believer, thus one is not excused just because one does not believe. The Burden of Proof is on the side which affirms, in this case you who holds the view that Christ Jesus is similar to other mythical deities.

As an atheist Christopher Hitchens will say; “What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.”(though self-refuting)

Where is Copycat theory proofs of there assertion BEFORE Christianity, that nails the similarities of Mythical deity and Christ Jesus? They ought to be Assert with proof.

Incorrect Reasoning(Argument) offered by Similarities Theory.

      1. Even though it is enough to point that the asserting made are without proof, even if the proof was there the argument makes a logical fallacy of false cause.

Fallacy of False Cause is committed whenever one reasons that just because two things exist side by side, one of them must have caused the other.

Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy has much in common, but we can not conclude that because John F. Kennedy story is closely similar to Abraham Lincoln then Lincoln story caused Kennedy’s (Kennedy people must have copy it from Lincoln story(Myth in making))

      2. Parallels in pagan(mythical deity) reflects the Christian influence in the ancient period
because it was not until A.D 150 that Virgin birth stories of other gods spring out. Thus the causation direction is from Christianity to pagan myth and not the other way around. Thus Copycat Theory is wrong in Historical chronology of events.

      3. Lot of allegation given as similarities of this deities and Christianity are either greatly exaggerated or fabricated. Using of Christianity terminology Baptism, Last Supper, Savior of the World, the Great Shepherd is reading Christianity into mythical story and not mythical story to Christianity.

      4. Christianity is unlike other because much of its claim are bases on Historical figures and facts
, Pontius Pilate, Gallio the proconsul of Achaia(AD 51), Benefactor Erastus, e.t.c. Why other mythical worship affirm that there stories are mythical, Christianity is the only one that say its stories are Historical.

      Jesus’ Story Within The Judaism
(Using Bible not as inspired scripts but Historical documents)

Jesus Born of a Virgin is a Jewish promised Prophecy that goes back to c 700 B.C

Isaiah 7:14; Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6-7; “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever”

One may argue that Virgin birth promise goes back to c 1500-1300 B.C

Genesis 3:15; “And I will put Enmity between thee and the Woman, and between thy Seed and her Seed, it shall bruise thy Head, and thou shalt bruise his Head.”

In time of Genesis writing, a child was believed to be a Seed of a Man. Thus Seed of a Woman is viewed as a birth without a man’s seed but a woman’s. With Christ Jesus being the promised Woman’s seed who shall bruise Satan’s Head.

Place of Birth Promise Between 767-687 B.C

Micah 5:2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.

Nazareth of Galilee, As Place of Growth promised 700 B.C

Isaiah 9:1-2; Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan. The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.

Massacre of Infant boys in his time of Birth promise c 550 B.C

Jeremiah 31:15; This is what the LORD says: “A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because her children are no more.”

His Betrayal for 30 Pieces of Silver, 520 B.C

Zechariah 11:12; I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.

      Him Being Crucification, 1000 B.C.

Psalm 22:16; Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet.

      Killed For Others, 700 B.C

Isaiah 53:5-6; But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

      Resurrects from the Dead

Psalm 16:9-10; Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.(1000 B.C)

Isaiah 53:8, 11; By oppression and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken. After the suffering of his soul, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.(700 B.C)

More close, Christ Jesus follows much pattern with Moses(Royal Family, Shepherd, Prophet). Thus Christianity if we are to called “Copy-Cat”, then its copying from itself(If we may call this copying at all).

Historical figures Saul of Tarsus and James the Brother of Jesus(who were against and skeptical about Jesus in his time) would not have throw there zealous Judaism and become Christians and joyful die for it if Christianity was mythical belief of Jesus as God.

Hundreds of first Witnesses of Christ would not be joyfully willing die for a myth.(Different from terrorist, because Terrorist die for what they are told to be true, but first Christ witness die for what they saw, witness first hand to be true, The Rise Christ Jesus)

I have joy that you are a true seeker of truth as you comment above, thus pointing that Mythical Parallelism is unsupported allegation, I hope, will open a passion in you to search more. A burden of proof is on your side, yet its a good burden of proof because its Truth, If God exist, costs eternity.

From your blog I learned you were a Christian, thus I will end with a plea; May you say the Skeptic prayer when you are alone “God if you are there, if you exist, If Christ Jesus is real, then show me in this mist of confusion and uncertainty I am in, If you are not there, cool, then I am just speaking to nobody 🙂 “

If God exist, and Christ Jesus is real, then the promise of Jeremiah 29:13 will be fulfill and that is my prayer to you.

  6. The burden of proof lies in the believers hands. The non-believers have no such burden. Mr. Hitchens is absolutely correct, as are the others. Faith based “facts”, words read from a book, and first-person supernatural accounts are without substance and are not proof.

    • In deed Humanitarikim, the burden of proof is on the affirming side, but in Christopher Hitchens statement namely

“What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.”

Its any sides namely affirming or negative side assertion that can be asserted without proof, should be dismissed without proof, thus even non-believer assertion ought to give proof or Hitchens will dismiss it without proof.

Christianity is the only religion that core belief is asserted with proof namely The Resurrection of Jesus.

After a creed(Corinthians 15:3-8) to which Skeptics, Atheists and Theists Scholars believe to go back to as 5 years after Jesus death, Paul writes:

And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:14 ESV)

Resurrection of Jesus the Nazarene is open to both, believer and non-believer to investigate Historically. Thus leaves Christianity as the only religion that you do not need to be a believer to search for its central truth.

It is not true that” Faith based “facts”, words read from a book, and first-person supernatural accounts are without substance and are not proof.” I had the same understanding when I were a fallen away Christian and believed in Atheism. But I discover that it was because of my lack of knowledge.

I would dare you to search If God exist or does not, not as a believer, but a non-believer. Search through Historical and Philosophical Foundation of Christianity, seek both the arguments and evidences given by both sides and you will find by making your own conclusion.

Thank you for your comment. BTW Nice blog you have.

      • I respectfully disagree. Based on your theory, stories are a source of fact. There are many other stories of deities who came BEFORE Jesus Christ that follow very closely the same tenets as the Bible.

The Egyptian god, Osiris, was born of a virgin mother, considered the first true King by the people. He rose from the grave and ascended to heaven. He defeated death, and must be considered the single true God according to his followers.

Apollonius of Tyana healed the sick and the crippled, restored sight to the blind. His birth was of a virgin, foretold by an angel. He was crucified, rose from the tomb and appeared to his disciples to prove to them his power over death, after which he ascended to Heaven to sit with his Father. He was known as “the Son of God”.

Another, known as the “Light of the world”, was the mediator between God and humankind and was born on the 25th of December. Shepherds witnessed his birth and gave him gifts. He had 12 disciples, and when his work was done on earth he gathered together to a last supper with them, and then ascended to heaven. He will return to pass judgment on both the living and the dead. The righteous will go to heaven and the sinful will be killed in a giant fire. Sunday is his holyday. They practiced babtism and established a sacred meal ritual. Above earth was heaven, and below was the dark hell with demons and the sinners. This man is the sungod Mithra.

There also the Saviour, Zarathustra, of Persia. The founder of a monotheistic religion that still exists. He preached that there was only one true God, and his teachings focused on the fight between good and evil, and that he will wake the dead and pass judgment on all. The good go to Paradise and the sinful go to a burning Hell. The word “Paradise” stems from this religion. This god had a following of disciples who wandered around, preaching their religion. He was eventually killed and sent to heaven.

There are many others whose stories closely resemble the life of Jesus Christ, yet historically, all of these came prior to the times written about in the Bible. Do you believe in all of them as well? Which one is the truth?

Thank you for visiting my blog. 🙂

      • Dear Humanitarikim,

Thank you for you comment and an objection that needs to be addressed namely Jesus Christ as a CopyCat.

The CopyCat Objection namely “Christ Jesus never existed, he is just a Jews version of ancient pagan religions base on sun worship” rose in 19th centuries. Is currently rejected and abandon by nearly all scholars, both Atheists, Skeptics and Theist.

The revival of the abandon theory by The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, The Zeitgeist “Spirit of the Age” youtube movie which is based on Acharya S’s book, entitled The Christ Conspiracy: The Greatest Story Ever Sold which aim to convince the reader/viewer that the authors of the New Testament borrowed the idea of :

        Jesus’ virgin birth,
        December 25th birth date,
        Three Kings
        Twelve disciples,
        Savior of men,
        Son of God

a borrowed from astrological sources and ancient pagan mystery religions that were around long before the time of Christ. Miss Acharya “guru” or “teacher” whose real name is D. Murdock, work which Zeitgeist video is based goes so far as to claim that Jesus never existed.

19th centuries and Todays critics(none Historians) argue that Jesus is an invented figure sequence regularly found in comparable after the life cycles of mythologicals gods namely Osiris, Mithra, Attis, Cybele, Adonis, Euless, Thrace, Dionysus, Krishna, even Buddha

Here, I will not point to why almost all scholars, Atheist, Skeptic and Theist have abandon this objection but to Historical Documentation Facts of the gods to which much is speculated from.

Before I answer the objection, It best that I clear what Christian facts are from fictional.

        1. Jesus is not born in 1 A.D, He is born between 6-4 BC because his birth is Historically associated Cyrenius becoming the governor of Syria 6 BC and Herod the Great, who died in 4 BC. Thus not the age of Pisces ”Fish”. The Christian fish symbol comes from letter ICHTHUS “Greek word for fish” Insous, Christos, theos, uios and soter meaning Jesus Christ, God’s Son, Savior.

        2. Jesus is not born on Winter(December 25), the detail that surround his birth points that it is not December 25, namely:

        i. Zacharias, a priest, performed his duties during the course of Abidjan, after he returned home from Jerusalem,

ii. Elizabeth conceived, Mary conceived in the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy.
John was born approximately six months before Jesus

iii. And Palestine is very cold in December. It was much too cold to ask everyone to travel to the city of their fathers to register for taxes. Also the shepherds were in the fields (Luke 2:8-12). Shepherds were not in the fields in the winter time. They are in the fields early in March until early October. This would place Jesus’ birth in the spring or early fall. It wasn’t until A.D. 440 that the church officially proclaimed December 25 as the birth of Christ probably copied by Romans Priest from Saturnalia, a Babylonian priesthood that celebrated the birthday of the sun god.(Edwin Yamauchi, an author, professor, first rate historian and authority on the world of the first Christians, records that it was not until about 336 A.D that December 25 was adopted into Christianity). All in all, almost over 300 years later after Christianity had already began.

3.No Three Kings, The New Testament document records of the magi(wise men) not Kings and the number of the wise men is unknown.

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, (Matthew 2:1 ESV)

Now, that as said, let see the Parallelism of gods With Christ Jesus.

        Horus And Christ Jesus

Claims; Horus born on December 25th , born of a virgin, star in the east, adorned by 3 kinds, teacher at 12, baptized and started ministry at 30 and have 12 disciples, performed miracles, lamb of God, the light, crucified, dead for 3 days and resurrected in Egypt 3000 BC.

Historical Fact According to Horus Myth:

Horus was born to Isis; No historical mention of Isis called “Miryam” Miriam(Mary)
Isis was not a virgin; She was a widow of Osiris who conceived Horus with Osiris.
Horus is born during month of Khoiak, Todays dating somewhere between October and November, not December 25th
No account record of three kings visiting Horus at birth
Horus did not have a ministry
Horus did not have 12 disciples. Historical document of the mythical accounts of Horus records that he had four semi-gods that were followers and some indications of 16 human followers and an unknown number of blacksmiths that went into battle with him
Horus was not a savior in any shape or form
No account record of him being a teacher at age 12
Horus was not baptized. The only recorded incident that Horus in water is the story of him being torn to pieces, with Iris requesting the crocodile god to fish him out go the water he was placed into.
No account records Horus being betrayed by a friend
Horus did not die by crucifixion( According to Historical data at 3000 BC crucification was not yet invented or practiced) Horus was dismembered by Set and his body-parts being scattered throughout the earth.(Other document combine Horus and Osiris together and result as him being torn apart and thrown into a river)
Horus did not die a death for others
Horus was not buried for three days, and no resurrection(Some accounts record Horus/Osiris being brought back to life by Isis and made a lord of underworld(This is zombification not resurrection)
Horus left eye was gouged out, which supposedly explained why the moon. Thus in new moon Horus becomes Blind and titled Mekhenty-re-irty(“He who has no eyes”) and when the moon was visible again Horus is retitled Khenty-irty(“He who has eyes”)

        Krishna and Christ Jesus

Born of a virgin, star in the east, performed miracles and resurrected, India 900 BC.

        Historical Facts of Krishna Myths

Krishna is the eighth child of Devaki, thus not a virgin birth. The conception of Krishna when the hairs of the head of Vishnu was placed in Devaki’s womb in Eighth incarnation of Vishnu. No mentions of eastern star.
Krishna was killed by an arrow from Jara the hunter who accidentally mistake Krishna with a deer shot him in the heal( Mahabharata, Book 16,4)
According to Dr. Edwin Bryant, Professor of Hinduism at Rutgers University, who also translated the Bhagavata-Purana(“The Life of Krishna”) point out that “There is no Indian gods portrayed as crucified”

        Attis and Christ Jesus

Claims; Born of a virgin, December 25th , Crucified, dead for 3 days and resurrected. Greece 1200 BC

        Historical Facts of Attis myths

Attis was not born of a virgin

Attis has wide ranging accounts, thus hard to pin point exactly one but none indicate him being born of a virgin.

In one account; goddess Nana puts fruits in her lap that came from a tree started by Zeus’ masturbated “seed” on Mt Agdus which looked like goddes Rhea(Verm.CA, 90-1; VermLAGR, 4, 9) which result into virgin(If Nana was a virgin) conception.

Attis was not crucified. One account records Attis being driven insane by his lover after which he castrates himself and he bleeds to death in the forest and remain dead.

Attis did not resurrect. The great mother goddess Cybele askes Zeus to preserve Attis and he does with the only signs being that Attis’ hair continues and his little finger continuously moves. The supposed resurrection stories of Attis comes A.D 150, to late for Christian to copy.

Even Skeptics and Atheists admits that Attis cult modified there story after Christianity.

        Mithra And Christ Jesus

Claims; Born of a virgin, December 25th , had 12 Disciples, performed miracles, dead for 3 days, resurrected, and worship on Sunday, Persia 1200 BC.

        Historical Facts on Mithras Myths.

Mithras is born out of a solid rock. He emerged from it carrying a knife and torch and wearing a Phrygian cap.

He went to battle against the sun and the primeval bull as the first account of creation. The killing of the bull became a ground of life for the human race. This is why ancient Romans worship involved washing oneself in bulls blood

Mithras birth day is celebrate on December 25th

No record of him being a great teacher with 12 disciples. The only possible association is when Mithra was surrounded by 12 signs and personages of Zodiac(which is post Christian)

Mithras did not bodily resurrect, he was taken to paradise in a chariot alive and well after finishing his earthly mission(No crucification nor resurrection).

There is no Historical evidence that Mithra was called the Good Shepherd, the Light and other titles attributed to Christ Jesus.

Mithras worship develop in a healthy after Christianity

No Historical account(records) of this mythical gods as asserted by CopyCat Theory before New Testament sources. And the Myth objection fails because its not Christianity that copied from pagans but the other way around.

The burden of proof is on the affirming side, thus I dare you to seek the Historical proof that is before to Christ Jesus assertions to which Jesus Copycat myth theory claim and see if it is supported Historically. Christ Jesus is still the only God who who is said to be born of a Virgin, Crucified for the Sin of the World and Rose again.

Christianity remain the only religion that is open to search of its truth.

Name a god, and we will go through History together and see if any of CopyCat theory dissertation namely Born of Virgin, Resurrection etc holds.

        1. It has to be Before Jesus 6-2 BC
        2. Name any modern Historian or Mytholical Scholar Holding that view and why they hold that view.
        3. Name the dating of the document

        Seek and You will find

Here is How Atheists, Skeptic and Theist Scholars Have rejected Jesus Copycat theory

  7. Ooops, I forgot something…sorry

    You write:
“The arguments for existence of God are good because they have evidence/proof from modern science to back their premises.”

You have me curious about this, I was unaware that any real science proved God, since that is an impossibility.

Perhaps you could/would expand on this theory of yours.

    • It is defended already in the argument. Click in each argument to have the follow explanation.

So read the arguments first, and from there if you have questions, objection then we can take it from there.

  8. Hi again Prayson Daniel, I hope you are well.

No need to go through all that verbiage it is simplicity itself…

You assert to me that God is real…I ask for proof.
You have no proof…I dismiss your assertion.

“What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.” Christopher Hitchens

See how simple it is, how logical. Notice the call for PROOF. It is not an appeal to anything but commonsense…a commodity that Mr. Hitchens has an abundance of…as do I.

This is one of those little “bon-mots” that go down in literary history…It will be remembered and repeated forever.

  9. You write:
    “Another Claim;

“What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.” Christopher Hitchens

Where is the proof of this claim Mr. Hitchens? If no, I will have to dismiss this too without proof on the bases of your own logic!”

There is no need for “Proof” of this statement by Mr. Hitchens, as the proof is self evident in the statement.

You assert to me that God is real…I ask for proof.

You have no proof…I dismiss your assertion.

    • Dear thewordofmen,

Thank you for your comment. Your comment commits two incorrect reasoning in argumentation:

      Appeal to Misleading Authority(Ipse Dixit)

Ipse Dixit(“He, himself, said it” (Latin))

There is no need for “Proof” of this statement by Mr. Hitchens, as the proof is self evident in the statement.

Authority A believes that P is true.
      Therefore, P is true.

      “Proof” is used as authority.

      Thus; It, itself, says it

      Even if we grant this to be true, then it fells into another incorrect reasoning in argumentation namely;

      Self-exceptional Fallacy

Everything claim asserted without proof, can be dismissed without, expect this claim that “what can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.

You assert to me that God is real…I ask for proof.
You have no proof…I dismiss your assertion.

This also commits incorrect reasoning in argumentation namely:

      Appeal to Ignorance

There is no evidence against p.
      Therefore, p.

There is no evidence for p.
      Therefore, not-p.

First, it assumes that X needs to have a known proof to be true. which is false:

Example,CSI finds no proof to prove that Mr. Alive murder Mr. Dead. If Mr. Alive did Murder Mr. Dead, The fact remain even if CSI have no proof.

Alexander Vilenkin; Professor of Physics and Director of the Institute of Cosmology at Tufts University writes:

“It is said that an argument is what convinces reasonable men and a proof is what it takes to convince even an unreasonable man. With the proof now in place, cosmologists can no longer hide behind the possibility of a past-eternal universe. There is no escape, they have to face the problem of a cosmic beginning”

The arguments for existence of God are good because they have evidence/proof from modern science to back their premises

The question “No proof” for existence of God, but is how good is the proof 🙂
